The watercolor commission is finished and I sent it off in the mail yesterday. It was an interesting house to color, what with all of the brick, pavers and stucco. Shades of red and brown everywhere, with a few flowers in pots on the driveway for accents, made for a pretty little scene. The flag was a nice touch, too. It is a little different in that the house is grounded by the driveway pavers instead of the lawn and landscaping, but I am pleased with the way they turned out. I was a little worried about making all of the vanishing lines look good since there was a bit of variation in how the bricks were laid out, but that just added to the texture and allowed the eyes to move around the drawing.
I am onto the next one already. It is more of a farm landscape with a white house and a red barn in the background. You’ll see the pencil up in the next post.
