Finished, I think.

Finished

Mostly I am fussing with this now, so I think I just need to stop.  I must have painted over that hill in the distance at least a half a dozen times.  I faded it out with some glaze and redid the shrubs and lower sky so much that I was having trouble seeing what effect I wanted.  Still, I am happy to set it back for a while.  It feels balanced and, as ever, it looks better in real life than in the photo.  I can only manage to color correct so much in my Photoshop Elements.  It has to sit for 2 weeks before I varnish it for listing.  Maybe my perspective will change by then, but I can live with it now.

I like the highlights you added to your sagebrush. Didn’t know that you color corrected in Photoshop Elements. I also use Elements to colorize photos. That’s one reason I don’t paint much…I have a tendency to work and re-work a drawing or painting until it’s destroyed! I’m glad you know when to stop, or at least take a break. Great job!

Thanks, Des. I really only try to adjust the photo to match the paintings. I get as close as I can, but it is never really great. Fortunately, I always like the real thing better.

Deciding when to stop on any piece of artwork can be hard, although painting is the worst. Sometimes it helps to not look at it for a few days. I often find that it is small adjustment that makes a big improvement. I just have to find it. LOL

A very pleasing painting. I love your style and seeing brush strokes!

Thanks, Denise. I am finally, more or less happy with it. I fiddled around with the upper right it seems forever. The time comes ti just say stop. Maybe, when I have finished my commissions, I will take another look.
