The reed painting is finally finished. I must have sat and fiddled with it half a dozen times after I thought I might be done. And I’m still not super happy with with it. I kept playing with the shore line behind the reeds more than anything else. I still think there is not enough definition, but I may just let it sit for a month and look at it later.
Others have said they like it, even thought I am not overly thrilled, so it must have some qualities. (Mom said she’d take it today LOL)

I think it looks great. I also think when I draw detailed pen and ink it’s sometimes hard to switch off that impulse to make my watercolor similarly detailed. Even though it isn’t always the look I want. For me, my ink brain and painting brain can be very different. I don’t know if that makes any sense.

I agree about the ink vs painting brain. It does make sense to me. I once actually felt my brain shift from computer drafting brain to art brain. Now that was weird. LOL I do try to be less precise with the painting and more color oriented . I just felt that the lily paintings were more successful. Thanks for the compliment.
