I redid my grandson’s portrait

Pencil in

Grandson

I was never really happy with the first portrait I did of my grandson, so I decided to do another one.  He is almost two now and is such an expressive little boy.  The reference picture came from a local park where he was riding a rocking yellow duck and obviously having a great time.

I think this one came out much better.

Really nice! Looks like water color, am I right? Must be fun to have the ability to create something like this.

Thanks, Des. I did enjoy doing this. It is watercolor and ink. I like alternating mediums because it helps keep my art growing. Otherwise I would end up doing the same thing over and over. I am still basically a scardy cat and have to work at trying something new.

I like your work. Wondering if you know of a blog or group or someplace where aspiring beginners can post their work for critique and advice from fellow artists?

Thanks! I’m sorry, but I don’t know off hand. Do you have any artists groups in your area that you could join. You could try searching on wordpress for artist critiques. Also check out blogspot. It is more tuned to artists’ blogs.

I’m taking a basic drawing class at the local college. This is perfect for me. It would be nice to get some constructive criticism from other groups as well and I’ll looking. Thanks for your reply and thanks for working so hard on your blog.
