Egyptian theatre finished

Downtown Boise

The final watercolor for the Egyptian Theatre is finished. After almost a week’s worth of work, the coloring is done and I have listed this in my etsy store. It took almost 3 weeks to complete this from beginning to end, which is a long time for me on one piece.  There was a lot of detail here and the layout took extra time as did the inking. The watercoloring was a breeze in comparison, although even it took extra days.

Don’t you love the vibrant colors and bird motifs?  There were many buildings inspired by the discovery of King Tut’s tomb at the time this was built.  This is one of the few survivors of the era.  I am so glad that it did, aren’t you?

I love it! I grew up in Boise but moved away in the 70’s. Recently, I saw a band called “The Squeeze” there and being in the theatre brought back many childhood memories. You’ve done a great job of capturing a feel of this place.

Thanks, Des. My son and his family moved to Boise last June. We loved the two visits we made so far and look forward to going back again this year. I’m planning to do several of the historic downtown buildings. I love all of those late 1800’s and early 1900’s structures. There is so much character in them that you don’t seen in more modern ones. Glass and steel is not nearly as appealing to me.

Thanks, Pola. You have made a wonderful start to your blog. I like your pictures and text. The key is to keep at it and post a couple of times a week. Also, don’t forget to tag your post with key words for search. I didn’t see them listed by your title, but I don’t know where they would show up with your specific layout. There should be a place to put them in somewhere on the create your post page. They are how your blog will be found by searchers looking for art blogs and subject matter.
